In France!!

After a day of traveling we have finally arrived in France! We're staying with some friends of my aunt and mom from
growing up for a few days, we can't move in at our school until Friday.

Our trip:
We started in JFK, our plane took off an hour late but we only arrived a half hour late in Madrid. From there we connected to Paris and just enough time to comfortably go through customs in Spain, go back through security, and then I changed and washed my face. Soon after that our flight started boarding! On the plane we got a French newspaper, I was reading the business section and actually understood what was going on for the most part in the article. Then we both fell asleep and woke up in Paris! Our bags made it just fine and we safely and as smoothly as possible navigated through public transportation. We took a bus to a metro line to another metro line to the Gare de Lyon where we caught a TGV train to Lyon before connecting to a regular train and finally arrived at the train station in Givors Ville, a little drive from where Mark and Joy live. Dinner was ready when we got here, a Quiche Lorraine with salad and strawberry shortcake dessert. It was so good, especially after all that traveling! Tomorrow Joy is taking us around their town, I'm so excited. It's already been so great being here, definitely a huge blessing to be with a family who has lived in France for 21 years!

It's so exciting to be here! I used my French to order a cafe au lait, to ask about a bus, to purchase train tickets, and to ask why the pay phone wasn't working. I think knowing how the CTA works in Chicago definitely helped us today. Also I would not have wanted to do all that without knowing French, that would have made the day 1000 times harder!

I'll write more later...sweet dreams :-)
